Traveling far,

energy low.

Light changed to darkness,

many miles to go.

Trying to reach home

before his end.

Traveling this road alone,

all over again.

Last chance cafe

is up ahead.

I will pull in, not to stay,

just for coffee and short bread.

Then it came to me,

his heart is weak,

this is my father I got to see,

maybe the last time we have to speak.

For a lesson learned

is wisdom gained,

never to be late again,

for this I yearn,

Just to whisper his name.

FATHER!
